PLURK

I've started doing something new around the offices.

I'll fire off a quick email to some staff members that will look something like this...

"Are you playing or working?"

The responses I get back are really interesting, but what I really love is when they reply back with the single word, "both!"

I've adopted a name for this approach to work, and it's called, "PLURK." So, what in the world do I mean?

I spend about 80 hours a week working. Now, if I can't enjoy or don't enjoy my work, then that makes me a very dull, stale person. Have you ever met a preacher like that? I have. Sometimes I want to ask preachers like that why they keep doing what they do. I simply cannot live that way.

To PLURK means to:
- love what we do
- love life
- love Jesus
- love the people we work with
- smile
- laugh
- be lighthearted
- not take yourself too seriously
- take your work very seriously
- take your God extremely seriously

I think that if we do this, our work and play will become indistinguishable.

I love to play with passion and I love to work with passion.

PLURK - it's what I do!!!

PLURK describes my life. My work is my play. My playing is my work.

How do we do get to this point??
Send a joke to somebody.
Throw a Nerf football into someone's office.
Make fun of yourself.
Do everything possible to get the crabby person to smile.
Make someone's day in a small way.
Be real.
Be transparent.
Get out of your cubicle.
Compliment someone on their work.
Compliment someone on their clothes.
...you get the point.

I believe that regardless of the environment you work in. You can turn work into PLURK.

As a leader, you are the creator of the environment. So...are your people PLURKING??!!
